Abstract: In this talk we discuss solid state platforms that admit a description in terms of alternative metrics. We discuss implications from a solid-state physics perspective.

BIO:  Seyed Akbar Jafari received his PhD in 2004 under supervision of Ganapaty Baskaran. From 2004-2006 he was a JSPS post doctoral fellow in the group of Sadamich Maekawa. Then he joined Isfahan Univ. of Technology as Assistant Professor. As of 2010 he has been a faculty at Sharif University of Technology where he is currently Associate Professor of physics. He has received the young scientist award from Iranian Academy of Science and Alexander von Humboldt felwship for experienced researchers. As of 2015 he has been serving as elected member of the steering commitee of condensed matter sector in the physical society of Iran.
